Akhannouch Chairs First Board Meeting of the Regional Health Group in Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima
The head of government, Aziz Akhannouch, on Monday, July 28, 2025, presided over the first board meeting of the regional health group in Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, held at the Mohammad VI University Hospital Center in Tangier.
The meeting comes as part of the implementation of royal directives concerning the reform of the national health system, within the framework of the expansion of social protection, and to activate the new model for organizing health services at the regional level.
During the meeting, the organizational foundations of the group were discussed, along with the approval of the proposed organizational structure, work program, and budget for 2025.
Akhannouch emphasized that the launch of this group represents a pivotal stage in restructuring the health sector by integrating healthcare services within a unified regional framework that connects primary healthcare centers with university hospitals. He believes that this new approach will contribute to achieving integration between levels of care, improving access to health services, and reducing disparities between regions.
The Prime Minister highlighted the commitment of the executive authority to support this transformation by enhancing governance, developing infrastructure, and increasing the attractiveness of health professions.
The regional health group for Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima is considered the first model of its kind, which is expected to be gradually extended to other regions of the kingdom based on continuous evaluation, with the aim of establishing a more equitable and effective national health system.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of Health and Social Protection, the Minister of Economic Integration, Small Enterprises, Employment and Skills, the High Commissioner for Planning, the Wali of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, the President of the Regional Council, the Director General of the regional health group, and members of its board of directors.
