Hicham Ait Mena, president of Wydad Athletic Club, emphasized the importance of resolving the disputes facing the club in an exclusive interview with “Assabah” newspaper. He expressed his desire for him and his successors to leave the club without passing on any crises similar to those they have faced before.
Ait Mena noted that the club’s focus extends beyond sports, including medical and health care for players across various disciplines and categories, especially those in training who require precise medical follow-up for their growth. He stated, “There are detailed measures now implemented in this regard, available through this institution that covers Morocco from North to South.”
Regarding the scheduling of the club’s general assembly, Ait Mena explained that its postponement from August is due to the unique characteristics of Wydad, as it is a multi-disciplinary club, necessitating additional time to complete legal procedures and prepare reports for each branch. He also pointed out that August is a holiday period, and the club does not wish to deprive any of its members from participating in this significant event.
Ait Mena confirmed that the club plans to open up the sports company’s capital to new investors in the future, but stressed that this move requires time and effort as it involves an accurate and realistic evaluation of the club. He added, “We are focused on settling debts and disputes in order to value Wydad in a realistic and reasonable manner, for its tangible and intangible assets, which will enhance its value to investors.”
In conclusion, Ait Mena stated that once the debts are settled, disputes resolved, and the club accurately evaluated, the project will be presented to the membership institution during a general assembly, which will have the final say on this matter.
