Moroccan Royal Airlines Partners with Barid Bank: A New Digital Innovation Reshaping the Traveler Experience in Morocco
Royal Air Maroc, in partnership with Barid Bank, has launched an innovative digital solution to enhance customer experience at Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca. This initiative marks a significant step in the digital transformation of the air transport sector in Morocco. The new solution, based on contactless mobile payment technology, aims to facilitate the travel journey from check-in to boarding through dedicated and secure services.
This advanced system relies on Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, allowing customers to make purchases effortlessly by simply bringing their bank cards or smartphones close to the portable payment device used by staff. Three strategically located counters at Mohammed V Airport have been designated to provide this service at the points of check-in, transit, and boarding, allowing for personalized assistance to travelers throughout their journey.
In this context, over 24 employees have been specially trained to offer immediate support and guide customers towards various additional services such as preferred seat selection, upgrades to business class, access to lounges, and fast track services. Additionally, the exclusive “Loft” service combines the comfort of first-class lounges with expedited private pathways.
During the event, Hamid Ahdou, the CEO of Royal Air Maroc, stated: “This mechanism reinforces our continuous commitment to providing seamless and tailored digital services for each customer, from the moment of booking to baggage claim. Through our 12-month digital program, we aim to establish Casablanca Airport as a regional reference hub.”
For his part, Amin Najar, Chairman of the Board of Barid Bank, expressed his pride in this joint step, affirming: “We are pleased to lend our expertise in digital payment to this pioneering initiative. The Mobile Payment Barid solution embodies our shared commitment to simplifying travelers’ lives through secure and advanced POS technology.”
This service is expected to expand later to Orly Airport in France, paving the way for its implementation at other airports across the kingdom. Royal Air Maroc plans to gradually introduce new services, making this project part of a broader digital program aimed at enhancing the Moroccan travel experience and establishing it as a model to be emulated regionally.
This initiative signals a new phase in the digitization of air transport services in Morocco, where convenience and speed meet innovation, enhancing the competitiveness of Moroccan airports and raising the quality of services to align with the expectations of modern travelers.
