Exclusive: Wydad Faces Club Rejections Despite Zalzouli and Amrabat’s Approval
Sources have revealed that Wydad Athletic Club received initial approval from both Abdessamad Zalzouli and Sofyan Amrabat to participate with the team in the FIFA Club World Cup. However, their European clubs have refused to allow their temporary transfer to the Red team.
Wydad officials encountered a rejection from Real Betis regarding Zalzouli, with the club citing the player’s ongoing injury as the reason for their decision, despite medical confirmations indicating his recovery prior to the tournament.
On the other hand, Fenerbahçe coach José Mourinho expressed his willingness to allow Sofyan Amrabat’s participation, but under the condition that the player only competes in three matches, which could potentially exclude him from the semifinals or finals should Wydad reach those stages.
Wydad aims to strengthen its squad with experienced players in preparation for its anticipated participation in the global competition. However, contractual obligations of the players with their clubs have hindered the completion of these temporary deals.
