Donald Trump announces ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran following attack on Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar

U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a comprehensive ceasefire agreement between Israel and Iran after an Iranian attack on the Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar on Monday evening.

In a post on his official platform, Trump stated that the ceasefire would come into effect within six hours, noting that the truce would initially last for 12 hours, after which the war would be officially considered over.

The American president praised what he described as the “courage, intelligence, and resilience” demonstrated by both sides to end the conflict, affirming that the war was poised to continue for years and could have devastated the entire Middle East.

Trump wrote, “God bless Israel and Iran,” adding that there were no injuries or fatalities among U.S. or Qatari troops as a result of the attack.

He indicated that Iran launched 15 missiles at the Al Udeid base, but air defenses intercepted 13 of them, characterizing the Iranian response as “weak and predictable,” following the U.S. strike targeting nuclear facilities within Iran.

He confirmed that the Iranian attack came in retaliation for the U.S. operation, adding that Washington was prepared for any potential reaction and handled the situation “very effectively.”

In a similar vein, Trump expressed his gratitude to the Emir of Qatar for his efforts in facilitating the mediation, tweeting: “I thank the respected Emir of Qatar for all his efforts towards peace in the region.”

For his part, U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance stated that tomorrow “will be a new day and the end of the war,” affirming that the conflict “has reset the balance in the region.”

Iran had dubbed its attack “Promised Victory,” targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, which houses U.S. forces, in response to the strike that targeted its nuclear facilities. Doha announced that its air defenses successfully intercepted the Iranian missiles, with no casualties reported.
