The Polisario is a terrorist entity… that’s the end of the story
Once again, the explosions in Smara reveal the ugly face of a crumbling system known as “Polisario.” This group seeks a lost legitimacy through terrorism, attempting in vain to confuse a state that has proven through facts that it cannot be defeated, neither on the battlefield nor in international forums. The recent shelling is simply a cry of despair from a collapsing organization, and a new scandal for those who finance and support it, who undervalue innocent lives for sick political objectives.
The attack came just weeks after direct Algerian escalation against Morocco’s interests in international circles. It followed the campaign to open consulates in the heart of the southern provinces. It came after voices within the U.S. Congress began calling for the classification of the front as a terrorist organization. The message is clear: the adversary is floundering, Moroccan strikes are painful, and gains are accumulating.
Targeting a city like Smara is not a coincidence. This city stands as a symbol of Moroccan Sahrawi identity and hosts a fierce history of resistance against colonialism. Today, it is synonymous with Morocco’s development, investment, and openness. The Polisario realizes it is losing ground, support, and even global sympathy. When one has lost everything, their only option is to behave like a gang.
The separatists, backed by Algerian generals, now have only shells and statements left. No projects, no prospects, no cause. Meanwhile, Morocco continues to build. The Atlantic port, gas pipeline, renewable energies, investments from Africa, the Gulf, and America… In contrast, Tindouf is sinking into hunger, repression, and stagnation.
The world is starting to change its tone. Support for the separatist project is eroding. Credibility is being lost. Even within Algeria, the public is outraged by the diversion of billions to a group that knows only how to ignite fires.
Today, the matter is no longer about borders but rather about regional security and stability. Anyone shelling a Moroccan city in 2025 can only be described as a terrorist. Those justifying or remaining silent about the shelling place themselves in the same category. The silence of some human rights organizations is scandalous. Collaborating with violence will not grant the front legitimacy; it only serves to incriminate it further.
The message to both the domestic and international arenas is clear: Morocco will not be blackmailed, infiltrated, or defeated. Every attempt to destabilize its security will be met with firmness. From Tangier to Laayoune, the people are united, the army is prepared, and the agencies are vigilant. The Sahara is not a bargaining chip but a part of the homeland, a destiny that cannot be reversed.
