The Ministry of Interior emphasizes the need for mobilization to ensure the success of the national livestock support program.

A high-level ministerial meeting was held yesterday at the Ministry of Interior to oversee and monitor the implementation of the national livestock reconstruction process. This meeting was attended by the Minister of Interior, the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water, and Forests, and the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy and Finance in charge of Budget, alongside central officials and representatives from the relevant ministries. Regional governors and district and prefecture officials participated in the meeting via videoconference, as well as representatives from the ministries of Economy and Agriculture at both the regional and local levels.

Participants reviewed the guidelines for this national initiative, which are inspired by royal directives. They stressed the importance of executing the program in a professional and transparent manner, while involving local authorities in managing the support directed to beneficiaries. An official statement released after the meeting highlighted the significance of this initiative in enhancing the productivity of the livestock sector and ensuring its sustainability, by supporting breeders and enabling them to cope with the repercussions of successive years of drought, in addition to contributing to the country’s food sovereignty.

This national project falls within a comprehensive strategic vision based on digitization and the establishment of an accurate national database that monitors the status of livestock and breeders, with the aim of ensuring meticulous planning and developing tailored programs to the specificities of rural areas and livestock breeding conditions. During the meeting, the content of the joint circular guiding this initiative was presented, defining the governance model adopted, which consists of a central steering committee chaired by the Ministry of Interior and a joint technical committee supervised by the Ministry of Agriculture, along with local committees under the supervision of governors and district heads.

Participating ministers and officials called for the active and personal engagement of all stakeholders to ensure the success of this national project, by mobilizing the necessary human and logistical resources, ensuring transparency regarding data related to the number of livestock and beneficiaries, adhering to eligibility criteria, closely monitoring implementation phases, and enhancing field communication to raise breeders’ awareness of the importance of the initiative and its positive effects in the short and long term.
