The administration of the local prison in Beni Mellal issued a clarification statement to the public on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, in response to a video posted on a YouTube channel, which included allegations deemed false and malicious regarding the conditions of detention of a female inmate.

The statement, released by the General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration, affirmed that the individual who published the video is known for spreading lies and promoting rumors. The claims he made about what he described as the “privileged life” of inmate (M.A.) inside the facility are unfounded and aimed solely at damaging the reputation of the prison and its staff.

The statement clarified that the inmate in question is detained on serious charges related to “fraud and attempted fraud, habitual false representation of a title and honorific distinction, misuse of a title defined by public authority’s conditions without fulfilling those conditions, and the use of documents containing false data.” She was admitted to the facility on May 13, 2025.

The prison administration emphasized that the inmate resides in a communal room with several other inmates and enjoys her legal rights like all female prisoners, without any special privileges or preferential treatment.

The statement concluded by reaffirming the institution’s commitment to respecting the laws governing correctional facilities, urging caution and responsibility in addressing issues related to inmates, and discouraging the spread of misleading and defamatory campaigns.
