Syrian international player Omar Al-Somah, the new striker for Wydad Athletic Club, faces a hurdle preventing him from joining his team in their training camp currently underway in Maryland, USA, as they prepare for the FIFA Club World Cup.
Reports indicate that Al-Somah traveled from Saudi Arabia to Switzerland to complete the process of obtaining his visa for the United States, but was surprised to find the U.S. embassy closed due to a public holiday, delaying his approval.
It is likely that the player will receive his visa on Monday, allowing him to head to the United States immediately. However, this delay could result in him missing Wydad’s opening match against Manchester City next Wednesday.
In related news, Brazilian defender Guilherme Ferreira has arrived at the American camp and has started individual training before joining his teammates for the final preparations.
Wydad is competing in Group G of the tournament, alongside Manchester City, Italian club Juventus, and Emirati team Al Ain, facing a challenging competition that begins with a match against the English giant.
