The Attorney General at the Court of Cassation, Head of the Public Prosecution, Hicham Belaloui, met on Thursday, June 19, 2025, with the Minister of Justice of Cape Verde, Joana Gomes Rosa Amado, at the headquarters of the Public Prosecution in Rabat, during the Minister’s official visit to Morocco.
Discussions between the two parties focused on ways to enhance judicial cooperation between the two countries. During the meeting, Belaloui presented a detailed overview of the competencies of the Moroccan Public Prosecution, its role in protecting rights and freedoms, and upholding the rule of law. He also highlighted the efforts made to combat crime, promote ethics in public life, and enhance governance within the justice system.
In turn, Minister Joana Amado presented her country’s judicial experience, especially regarding the Public Prosecution, discussing ongoing reforms and the challenges faced by Cape Verde in terms of judicial independence and the effectiveness of justice.
The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange experiences and expertise, emphasizing the importance of developing cooperation between the two judicial institutions through visits and joint training programs, aiming to advance judicial work in both countries.
The conversations concluded with a mutual desire to deepen institutional cooperation between Morocco and Cape Verde and to open new avenues for strengthening partnerships in the field of justice and public prosecution.
