Putin and Xi Jinping: Resolving Middle East Crises Cannot Be Achieved by Force
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping have expressed their rejection of any military solution to the crises in the Middle East, emphasizing that resolution cannot be achieved through force. This stance was communicated during a phone call between the two leaders on Thursday, during which they focused on the ongoing escalation between Iran and Israel.
The two leaders agreed to task the relevant authorities in their countries with enhancing coordination and exchanging information intensively in the coming days, given the complicated regional situation. Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov clarified that this step aims to unify positions and foster joint efforts to reduce tension.
Both sides condemned what they described as Israel’s violations of the United Nations Charter, reaffirming Moscow and Beijing’s commitment to a shared stance on regional issues. The Chinese president praised the role Moscow could play in mediating between Iran and Israel, considering it a contribution to lowering the intensity of the escalation.
The Russian president confirmed his country’s readiness to intervene diplomatically when necessary to help calm the situation. Ushakov described the conversation between the two leaders as friendly and constructive, primarily focusing on the worsening situation in the Middle East.
