Moroccan museums celebrate “Museum Night” and sign partnerships to enhance youth access
Moroccan museums celebrated the annual “Museum Night,” with activities extending until midnight in 2025, involving 16 sites in Rabat, 15 in Casablanca, 15 in Marrakech, 11 in Tangier, along with spaces in Tetouan, Asilah, Fez, Meknes, Essaouira, Safi, Agadir, and Zagora.
The National Museums Foundation signed two partnership agreements with the Ministries of Pre-University Education and Higher Education, aiming to facilitate free access for students, pupils, and researchers to historical and artistic museums and to organize coordinated visits.
The evening opened with two significant exhibitions, the first at the Museum of Mohammed VI for Modern and Contemporary Art titled “Dynamic Horizons,” showcasing a century of artistic exploration in Morocco through paintings, artistic periods, and social, political, and geopolitical history. The second exhibition, at the National Jewelry Museum in Kasbah of the Oudayas, was titled “Yesterday’s Caftan, Today’s Perspective” by Moroccan designer Fadila Kadi.
Mehdi Qatbi, President of the National Museums Foundation, emphasized this year’s focus on youth, universities, and schools, expressing his happiness at the attendance of the Ministers of Education and Higher Education and the signing of a partnership to enable children and youth to visit and appreciate museums.
Qatbi concluded his statement by affirming that “tonight, all museums, galleries, and cultural spaces in Morocco celebrate light, color, art, and respect for others.”
