More than a hundred armed militants killed in violent clashes in northwest Nigeria
A local official in Zamfara State, northwest Nigeria, reported the deaths of over a hundred gang members during fierce confrontations with local defense forces supported by the government, targeting the stronghold of gang leader Bello Turji.
Members of the “Zamfara Civil Defense Forces,” a militia loyal to the authorities, attacked the gang’s location, engaging in armed confrontations that lasted for hours.
Ahmad Manga, the security adviser to the state governor, confirmed that the battles resulted in a significant number of gang casualties, stating “more than a hundred” were killed, without providing specific figures for government or civilian losses.
