Lafitit: Field Measures to Combat Crime and Enhanced Security Presence in Neighborhoods and Schools

Interior Minister Abdellatif Lafitit has launched a series of continuous field measures aimed at combating crime and enhancing the sense of security. These measures focus on increasing the security presence within neighborhoods and around educational institutions, along with immediate interaction with criminal content shared on social media platforms. An electronic platform named "Iblagh" has also been established to facilitate citizen reporting of cybercrimes.

In a written response to a parliamentary question concerning ways to reduce rampant crime in neighborhoods and public spaces, the minister emphasized that fighting various forms of crime is a priority for the ministry. He assured that all material and human resources are being mobilized to protect the lives and property of citizens.

Lafitit clarified that the ministry employs both preventive and punitive measures manifested in increased security presence on main streets, in popular neighborhoods, and around schools, alongside targeted security operations aimed at individuals wanted based on specific programs.

The ministry’s strategy includes rapid response to content published on social media platforms by initiating investigations under the supervision of the public prosecutor. It has also enhanced the capabilities of decentralized judicial police services by providing them with intervention teams from the national judicial police.

Moreover, the ministry launched awareness campaigns within the school environment, engaging with civil society organizations, while activating the "Iblagh" platform to receive complaints and reports related to digital crimes and threats faced by victims and their families.

Lafitit stressed that solely relying on security measures is insufficient to tackle all criminal phenomena, calling for the engagement of all civil and social actors in a participatory and integrated approach to bolster prevention and resolution efforts.
