King Mohammed VI Prays for Eid in Tetouan and Decides Not to Sacrifice This Year

His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God protect him, accompanied by Crown Prince Moulay Hassan, Prince Moulay Rachid, Prince Moulay Ahmed, and Prince Moulay Ismail, performed the Eid al-Adha prayer this morning, Saturday, June 7, 2025, corresponding to the 10th of Dhu al-Hijjah 1446 AH, at Hassan II Mosque in Tetouan.

Crowds of citizens gathered along the route taken by the royal procession, expressing their joy on this blessed occasion, chanting long live the king and demonstrating their commitment to the Alaouite throne, praying for His Majesty’s health and long life. Upon his arrival at the mosque, the King was greeted by a royal guard formation that rendered him a formal salute.

Following the prayer, the preacher delivered the Eid sermon, highlighting the spiritual and doctrinal significance of this sacred day, marking the end of the first ten days of Dhu al-Hijjah, which Allah has blessed with merit and grace. He affirmed that Eid al-Adha is a time for Muslims to draw closer to God, emphasizing religious values, and renewing bonds of mercy and solidarity.

In this context, the preacher stressed that the celebration of Eid al-Adha is not limited to ritualistic aspects but reflects the deep connection of the Moroccan people to their Islamic identity and their commitment to the teachings of the true religion. He also pointed out that this occasion presents an opportunity to renew values of social solidarity and family ties.

From this religious responsibility, the preacher explained that the Commander of the Faithful, as the guarantor of religious observances in accordance with legal interests, has decided, given the discomfort that the act of sacrifice might cause some groups, that King Mohammed VI will not undertake it this year, in harmony with the spirit of ease emphasized by the Holy Quran: “And He has not placed upon you in the religion any difficulty.”
