King Charles expresses deep sorrow following the crash of an Air India plane in Ahmedabad

British King Charles III has expressed his profound shock following the crash of an Air India aircraft in the city of Ahmedabad, western India, which was carrying 53 British citizens among its passengers.

A statement released by the royal family via the platform X indicated that the King and his wife conveyed their heartfelt sorrow regarding the incident, noting that “our deepest prayers and sincere condolences go to the families and friends of all those affected by this tragic event that has impacted many countries, as they eagerly await news about their loved ones.” The statement also praised the heroic efforts of emergency teams and all those providing support and assistance during these difficult moments.

In a related context, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer issued a statement confirming that “the images emerging from the crash of a plane heading to London carrying a significant number of British citizens in Ahmedabad are devastating,” noting that he is receiving continuous updates on the developments of the situation and emphasizing his solidarity with the passengers and their families.

The British government reaffirmed its commitment to providing full support to those affected, as stated by Lucy Powell, the Leader of the House of Commons, who clarified that the government is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with the relevant authorities.

According to Air India, the aircraft was carrying 242 persons, including 169 Indian citizens, 53 British, one Canadian, and seven Portuguese nationals. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner was scheduled to arrive at Gatwick Airport in London at 6:25 PM UK time.
