Al Qunaitira Municipality Launches Urban Transformation Projects: Comprehensive Rehabilitation and a New Bus Station with Updated Standards

Under the directives of the Governor of Al Qunaitira, Abdelhamid Lamzid, the municipality of Al Qunaitira has initiated urban transformation projects by approving three major development initiatives during an extraordinary session held on the evening of Thursday, June 5, 2025. The session was chaired by Amina Harouza and attended by the city mayor, several members, and officials.

This session comes within the context of a new dynamic within the council, where two agreements for delegated supervision were unanimously approved with the local development company “Kenitra Aménagement et Développement SA.” The first agreement pertains to the rehabilitation of urban spaces, while the second is related to the construction of a new bus station with modern standards. To ensure the implementation of these projects, the council also approved the reallocation of financial provisions within the 2025 investment budget.

This consensus in decision-making reflected the calm and responsible atmosphere of the session, allowing members to vote unreservedly on all points. Many observers interpreted this as a clear indication of the unprecedented political harmony emerging within the Al Qunaitira municipal council, facilitating a move beyond traditional conflicts towards a paradigm of achievement.

In this context, the council president, Amina Harouza, emphasized the significance of this transformative phase, asserting that the approved projects are not just structural undertakings but represent a clear vision for improving living conditions in Al Qunaitira. This vision necessitates real collaboration among various stakeholders to keep pace with the rapid transformations the city is experiencing in terms of population and services.

Here, the political will of the council aligns with the aspirations of local and regional authorities to accelerate the pace of urban transformation, in accordance with a strategic plan aimed at restructuring public facilities and modernizing the transportation system, addressing residents’ expectations and rectifying the accumulated issues of past years.

The qualitative nature of these projects is highlighted not only by their content but also by the chosen management mechanism through a partnership with the local development company. This model signifies a shift in the approach to public affairs management and indicates the municipality’s transition to a new paradigm that relies on efficiency and effectiveness, in response to financial constraints and implementation complexities.
