Ghana Supports Autonomy in Western Sahara, Viewing It as the Only Realistic Solution to the Dispute
The Republic of Ghana confirmed its support for the autonomy proposal put forth by the Kingdom of Morocco, considering it the only realistic and lasting basis for reaching an acceptable solution to the Western Sahara issue.
This position emerged during an official meeting held today, Thursday, in Rabat, between Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, and his Ghanaian counterpart, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
During the meeting, the Ghanaian minister praised the dynamic relationship between Morocco and Ghana, especially in terms of economic cooperation, expressing his country’s desire to strengthen bilateral partnership in various domains.
Accra’s stance reflects a growing support for the autonomy initiative at the African level, reinforcing Morocco’s diplomatic efforts to garner international backing for a realistic political solution to the Western Sahara conflict.
