Fiery clashes open Monday’s round of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025
Today, Monday, three anticipated matches kick off in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, as six new teams join the global tournament held in the United States, attracting widespread fan and media attention.
The fourth group stage opens with a strong matchup between English club Chelsea and American club Los Angeles FC at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta at 3 PM local time (7 PM GMT). Meanwhile, Brazilian side Flamengo faces Tunisian club Esperance in an equally thrilling encounter at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia at 9 AM (1 PM GMT).
In the third group, Argentine giants Boca Juniors clash with Portuguese club Benfica in a classic matchup between South America and Europe at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami at 6 PM (10 PM GMT).
Each of the six teams boasts a rich football history, adding a competitive edge to the tournament. Chelsea has won the UEFA Champions League twice and is participating thanks to its latest title in 2021, while Los Angeles FC enters the match as the 2022 Major League Soccer champion and runner-up in the CONCACAF Champions League in both 2020 and 2023.
Boca Juniors, known for its strong presence in the Copa Libertadores finals, secured its place in the tournament based on its ranking among South American clubs, while Benfica earned its spot due to impressive performances in the UEFA Champions League in recent years.
Philadelphia will see a strong contest between Flamengo, a three-time Copa Libertadores champion, and Esperance, the most successful club in Tunisia, which qualified after winning the domestic league and cup titles last season.
It is noteworthy that the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup features Wydad AC and is being held for the first time with an expanded format including 32 teams, providing clubs from all continents the opportunity to compete for the global title in a unique celebratory atmosphere.
