Anticipated Increase in Tram Ticket and Subscription Prices in Rabat-Salé Starting in July
The company managing the Rabat-Salé tramway has announced a new pricing schedule that will take effect from July 1st, which will include increases for both tickets and various types of subscriptions.
The price of a single trip ticket will rise to 7 dirhams instead of the long-standing 6 dirhams. This ticket allows for route changes within 60 minutes and will also apply to the electronic ticket version.
Additionally, the company has introduced a new service called "Ticket + Parking" priced at 14 dirhams, covering both outbound and return journeys. This service will be available from the Al-Irfan station in Rabat and the Karima neighborhood in Salé.
The fare increase also affects the "Trambus" ticket, enabling tram users, especially those from Temara, to continue their journey on Bus 30, with the price increasing from 8 to 10 dirhams.
Monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual subscriptions have also been revised. The "Student Comfort" subscription for students under 26 years old has increased by 10 dirhams, reaching 160 dirhams. The "Comfort" subscription for other passengers, including employees, has risen to 270 dirhams per month instead of 250.
The quarterly subscription now costs 750 dirhams, the semi-annual subscription 1460 dirhams, and the annual subscription is set at 2700 dirhams.
Despite the increases in ticket and subscription prices, the penalty schedule remains unchanged, with first-degree fines set at 50 dirhams for offenses such as not having a ticket, failing to validate, using an inappropriate card, exceeding subscription duration, and smoking violations.
Second-degree fines will continue at 150 dirhams, applicable for offenses like obstructing vehicle doors and other violations.
It is noteworthy that the Rabat-Salé tramway, operated by Transdev, has been in service since 2011 with two lines connecting the Karima neighborhood to the Al-Irfan city and Moulay Abdullah Hospital, as well as Yaacoub Al-Mansour.
