Extraordinary Promotion for Policeman Injured While Arresting a Dangerous Suspect in Casablanca
Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, decided on Friday, June 13, to grant an exceptional promotion to a police officer working within the motorcycle unit of the Fida-Mers Sultan police district in Casablanca, after he sustained serious injuries while performing his duties.
The injured officer was involved in an intentional traffic incident while attempting to arrest a nationally wanted suspect in cases related to illicit drug and alcohol trafficking. The suspect attempted to flee by ramming his vehicle into the officer, but security forces managed to apprehend him on the spot and placed him under custody.
Meanwhile, the injured officer was transferred to a private clinic for necessary medical treatment, where he remains under medical supervision.
The promotion that elevated the injured officer to the rank of Chief Security Officer was granted under Article 29 of the special status governing national security employees, in recognition of his dedication and selflessness, affirming the state’s commitment to protecting its employees while they carry out their security duties.
This step is also part of the ongoing medical and social support policy for police employees, reflecting the continuous care that the General Directorate of National Security provides for its members’ sacrifices in the service of protecting citizens and maintaining public safety.
