Authorities have decided to relieve both Fad Shouraq, the governor of the Marrakech-Safi region, and Muad Al-Jamai, the governor of the Fez-Meknes region, from their duties today, less than a year after their appointments to these positions.

Fad Shouraq was appointed governor of the Marrakech-Safi region and the prefect of Marrakech in October 2023, coming from the Al-Hoceima province, where he had served as governor for several years. His promotion was part of a broad reshuffle in high-ranking positions within the territorial administration.

Muad Al-Jamai took up the post of governor of the Fez-Meknes region and prefect of Fez in the same month, after a previous experience in the Eastern region, where he was known for managing several sensitive social and security issues.

This sudden dismissal occurs amidst circumstances that have not yet been officially disclosed, but its timing raises questions about the performance of these officials during a brief and sensitive period, particularly in cities facing increasing economic and demographic pressures.

The decision brings to the forefront the evaluation criteria used in appointing and relieving senior officials in the territorial administration, especially as Morocco undergoes delicate economic and social transformations that demand executive competencies capable of effectively implementing field reforms and public policies.
