Details of Anwar and Zlzouli’s Joining Wydad
Mohamed Amin Benhashim, coach of Wydad Athletic Club, revealed an interesting fact regarding the potential participation of two prominent Moroccan stars with the Red team in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup to be held in the United States.
Benhashim stated in a media interview that he had communicated with the Moroccan international Abdessamad Ezzalzouli, a player for Real Betis, to attract him to Wydad for participation in the tournament. However, an injury prevented his joining the team.
He explained, “We hoped to benefit from Ezzalzouli’s services during the FIFA Club World Cup, and he showed a strong desire to represent Wydad, but an injury he sustained recently hindered that.”
Benhashim also unveiled another surprise, confirming that Sofian Amrabat, a midfielder for Turkish club Fenerbahçe, also expressed interest in competing in the World Cup with Wydad, but his Turkish club refused the idea.
He said, “Sofian was excited about the idea of playing with Wydad in the Club World Cup, but the decision was not his to make, as his team did not allow him to participate.”
