Casablanca Hosts the 37th Edition of the University Theater Festival with Extensive International Participation

The Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Ben Msik, part of Hassan II University in Casablanca, has announced the organization of the 37th edition of the International University Theater Festival in Casablanca, taking place from July 10 to 15, under the theme “Theater and Artistic and Cultural Diplomacy.”

The faculty confirmed in a statement that this artistic event, held under the auspices of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, represents an annual occasion where the university opens up to its cultural and artistic environment, transforming the city of Casablanca into an international platform for theater and cultural dialogue.

The upcoming edition will feature significant international participation, showcasing contemporary theatrical performances produced in 2025, representing countries such as Germany, Italy, Armenia, and Tunisia, alongside Morocco, which will present six performances from national university institutions.

The festival’s academic programming includes five open training workshops for students and participants, covering diverse topics such as image theater techniques, the art of transformation, mask usage, the actor’s body, creative journeys, and scenic techniques, led by experts and theater professionals from the UK, China, the United States, Italy, France, and Australia.

Additionally, the festival will take a moment to recognize and honor media and artistic icons who have made significant contributions to theater and cultural diplomacy, with tributes planned for Abd ElMajid Fenich and Nuzha Al Idrisi.

Launched in 1988, the festival serves as a unique platform for meetings, exchanges, and training, creating a global forum for the intersection of theatrical experiences and cultural dialogue among students, artists, and creators from both inside and outside Morocco.
