Abdel Salam Wadoo has been appointed as the new coach of South Africa’s Orlando Pirates, replacing Spanish coach Jose Rivera, who left his position a few weeks ago to join Al Ahly in Egypt.
The club did not disclose the duration of Wadoo’s contract, only confirming that he will officially begin his duties from June 27.
This appointment comes after a brief period during which Wadoo managed the technical bench of Marumo Gallants in South Africa during the second half of last season, where he made a significant impact in the local league.
Wadoo is among the Moroccan names with diverse coaching experiences, including his role with Congolese club Vita Club in 2024, following various stints in sports analysis and technical work.
Orlando Pirates, one of the premier clubs in South Africa, is counting on Wadoo’s expertise to enhance the team’s performance and achieve positive results in the upcoming season amid intense competition for local and continental titles.
