Historic Agreement with La Liga to Develop Moroccan Football and Enhance Professionalism
The Moroccan Professional Football League has announced a strategic agreement with La Liga, aimed at developing Moroccan football on all levels.
The agreement was signed on Monday evening at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maâmora, in the presence of the President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, Fouzi Lekjaa, the President of the league, Abdul Salam Bellkouchour, and La Liga President Javier Tebas, highlighting the significance of this collaboration and its major stakes.
According to league officials, the agreement is not limited to a symbolic or ceremonial dimension; it is based on a clear operational vision that focuses on:
- Qualifying Moroccan clubs and enhancing their administrative and financial performance
- Strengthening training and professional structures within clubs
- Supporting national competencies of coaches, administrators, and technical staff
- Improving sports governance mechanisms and aligning with professionalism standards
This initiative comes as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the national football framework, with the league considering the agreement as a “qualitative leap” in the path of professionalism, reflecting Moroccan football’s openness to successful European experiences.
For its part, La Liga will offer its organizational and technical expertise to Moroccan parties, engaging in the formulation of a roadmap to enhance the national championship according to precise standards and trackable performance indicators.
The objectives of the agreement extend beyond local competitions, reaching major challenges, the most prominent of which is contributing to the success of the project to host the 2030 World Cup, which Morocco is co-hosting with Spain and Portugal.
Through this collaboration, Morocco continues to solidify its position as an ambitious player in the international football arena, betting on smart partnerships to create a new generation of football talent with global specifications.
