The Royal Symphony Orchestra soars with global music
The Royal Symphony Orchestra captivated the audience in Casablanca and its visitors on Sunday evening, taking them on a journey through the realm of global music. The orchestra presented a unique selection of classical rock and jazz masterpieces.
At the Mohammed VI Theater in Casablanca, the group transported the audience during this concert, part of the 15th artistic season 2024-2025 under the theme “When Jazz Meets Rock,” celebrating the richness and depth of legendary works by creative musical groups that have left a lasting mark on history.
Among the musical selections performed by the Royal Symphony Orchestra were hits by the British rock band The Beatles, one of the trailblazing bands that still enjoys great popularity across all age groups, including “Can’t Buy Me Love,” “Lady Madonna,” “Come Together,” and “The Fool on the Hill.”
The audience at the Mohammed VI Theater didn’t stop there; the Royal Symphony Orchestra took them further into the world of songs that continue to enchant music lovers with performances of Deep Purple’s “Smoke on the Water” and “Lazy,” as well as The Doors’ “Break on Through to the Other Side.”
Under the guidance of exceptional musicians, the orchestra dared to revive these legendary songs from these remarkable bands, reinterpreting them with innovative jazz arrangements, captivating rhythms, splendid brass instruments, and vibrant improvisations.
The audience responded with enthusiastic applause throughout the concert, which was filled with joy. The meticulously performed songs delighted the crowd, which gathered in large numbers for the event.
The Royal Symphony Orchestra, which will perform today at the Mohammed V Theater in Rabat, comprises distinguished musicians such as Alexey Badyanov on guitar and group leader, Evgeny Chubron (saxophone), Ilham Akhilhoun (trombone), and drummers Mohamed Boufassi and Abd El-Daïm El-Juali.
“Jazzin’ Rock” represents a hybrid musical concept, a global fusion of jazz and rock that reinterprets rock classics through jazz principles: improvisation, harmonic richness, synchronized rhythms, and freedom of expression.
