The new Pope, Leo XIV, expressed regret on Friday regarding the decline of faith in favor of “other certainties such as technology, money, success, power, and pleasure.” This remark was made during his inaugural Mass as head of the Catholic Church at the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City.
In a sermon delivered in Italian before the cardinals, the Pope stated, “That is precisely why the mission is urgent… for a lack of faith often leads to tragedies.”
