The National Rally of Independents party held a meeting for its political bureau on the evening of Friday, May 2, 2025, in Dakhla, chaired by the party president Aziz Akhannouch. This step underscores the party’s commitment to being close to citizens and listening to their concerns, as part of an organizational trend aimed at expanding regional meetings of the political bureau across different regions of the kingdom.
The meeting was dedicated to discussing updates on the national and international political landscape, evaluating economic and social conditions, and following up on several organizational files, providing an opportunity to acknowledge achievements made on various levels.
In its opening remarks, the political bureau praised the continuous successes of royal diplomacy concerning the Moroccan Sahara, asserting that these victories reflect the wisdom and foresight of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. It also highlighted the accelerated developmental trajectory of the southern provinces, thanks to the development model for the southern regions launched in 2015 with a budget exceeding 80 billion dirhams.
In the same context, the party commended royal initiatives aimed at enhancing the visibility of the southern provinces, including the initiative to enable Sahel countries access to the Atlantic Ocean, which the party considers a strategic step to bolster South-South cooperation.
The political bureau also expressed its strong condemnation of the ongoing Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, denouncing the thousands of civilian casualties and emphasizing the need to halt these aggressions that hinder peace efforts and deepen the suffering of the Palestinian people. The party reaffirmed its support for Morocco’s steadfast position, led by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, President of the Jerusalem Committee, advocating for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
On the occasion of Labor Day, the party congratulated the working class, praising the government’s efforts and commitments within the framework of social dialogue, which has translated into tangible gains, notably increased wages in the public and private sectors, expanding pension eligibility to include new groups, improving the minimum wage, and raising the average monthly net salary in the public sector to over 10,000 dirhams by 2026.
The political bureau affirmed its support for social reform processes, particularly regarding the universal health insurance initiative and the direct social assistance program, which currently covers more than 3.9 million families. It also commended the results of the housing support program, which has benefited over 48,000 people, considering that the government possesses a comprehensive vision to combat unemployment and revitalize the job market, especially in light of drought’s impact on employment in the agricultural sector.
Organizationally, the party announced the launch of a new communication tour under the slogan “Path of Achievements,” which will cover 12 regions and 70 municipalities, involving party ministers and members of its political bureau. This tour aims to assess governmental and local outcomes, listen to citizens’ aspirations, and enhance public discussion through “Liberals’ Discussions.”
Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab will be the first stop on this tour, following previous paths like “Path of Trust” and “Path of Development,” in a true manifestation of the party’s vision to practice close governance and tie responsibility to accountability and communication.
In conclusion, the political bureau reaffirmed its commitment to responding to citizens’ aspirations and working towards achieving further reforms and gains that enhance comprehensive development and social justice throughout the kingdom.
