Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health Unveils Smart University Hospital Complex in Rabat
The Mohammed VI Foundation for Science and Health revealed, on Tuesday in Rabat, the Mohammed VI International University Hospital Complex, a massive health and scientific facility aimed at improving access to quality healthcare, enhancing academic excellence, and supporting innovation in the medical field in Morocco.
This advanced project comes in line with the royal directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, aimed at a comprehensive reform of the national healthcare system. It embodies a new generation of smart hospitals, incorporating modern technology, organizational flexibility, and excellence in academic training.
Ahmed Benana, General Director of the Foundation’s Rabat site and the hospital complex, emphasized that this facility is a tangible response to the needs for specialized treatments. He noted that it will feature around 600 expandable beds and benefit from the latest medical equipment and digital technologies, including the integration of artificial intelligence.
Benana highlighted that the complex is part of a regional strategy adopted by the foundation, which includes the establishment of multiple sites across the country in Rabat, Marrakech, and Agadir. It is characterized by a clear integration of treatment, scientific research, and training through advanced medical simulation platforms that allow students to gain practical experience from their early academic years.
He stressed that human capital is a pivotal element of this project, as staff are trained within the Mohammed VI University for Science and Health, which offers various specializations, including medicine, pharmacy, engineering, veterinary medicine, and nursing sciences.
The General Director stated that the project, which began construction in November 2023, is progressing rapidly and is expected to open by the end of October 2025. He praised its strong educational character and the job opportunities and added value it will provide to Moroccan citizens, aligning with the foundation’s African dimension.
The complex spans an area of 280,000 square meters and houses the Mohammed VI University for Science and Health in Rabat, a health simulation center, as well as two new faculties being developed in the fields of pharmacy and dentistry, enhancing the educational offerings of the institution.
During the same event, the new visual identity of the Mohammed VI International University Hospital was unveiled, reflecting the values of innovation, excellence, and modernity embraced by the foundation in its health and educational vision.
