The Ministry of Interior implements the King’s directives to prohibit the ritual sacrifice during Eid al-Adha this year due to climatic challenges stemming from consecutive years of drought, which have directly affected livestock numbers and increased living costs.
To activate these directives, local authorities held meetings across various regions of the kingdom, reaffirming the necessity to ban all activities related to Eid al-Adha. Strict instructions have been issued to law enforcement officials, aimed at preventing the sale of sheep in makeshift markets and unregulated venues, as well as banning the display and sale of animal feed and charcoal used for cooking the sacrifices.
These measures aim to protect animal resources and reduce the economic burden on families amid the climatic and financial crisis. They also reflect the authorities’ commitment to ensuring citizens adhere to the King’s directives during an extraordinary situation requiring collective solidarity.
