The Ministry of the Interior is implementing King Mohammed VI’s directives to cancel the Eid al-Adha sacrifice ritual this year due to climate challenges arising from consecutive years of drought, which have directly impacted livestock numbers and increased living costs.
To enforce these directives, local authorities have held meetings across various regions of the kingdom, emphasizing the need to prohibit all activities related to Eid al-Adha. Strict instructions have been issued to security personnel to prevent the sale of sacrificial animals in unauthorized markets and to ban the offering and sale of animal feed and charcoal used for cooking the sacrifices.
These measures aim to protect animal resources and reduce the economic burden on families amid the climate and financial crisis. They also reflect the authorities’ commitment to ensuring citizens adhere to the royal directives during an exceptional period that requires collective solidarity.
