The Ministry Continues Social Dialogue to Review the Labor Inspection Authority’s Statute

The Ministry of Economic Integration, Small Enterprises, Employment, and Skills held a new round of sectoral social dialogue on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. This meeting was part of the implementation of the government’s circular No. 07/2025 and in line with the commitments from the central social dialogue during the April 2025 session, particularly those related to revising the statute of the Labor Inspection Authority.

The meeting, chaired by Minister Younes Skouri, included three sessions with the most representative unions in the sector: the National Confederation of Labor affiliated with the General Union of Workers in Morocco, the National Union of Employment affiliated with the Democratic Confederation of Labor, and the National Union of Employees in the Employment Sector affiliated with the National Labor Union of Morocco.

This round followed a series of previous meetings that took place in April 2024, during which the minister emphasized the crucial role of the Labor Inspection Authority in enforcing respect for social laws and maintaining social peace. Skouri reiterated his commitment to reviewing the authority’s statute before the next central dialogue session, aiming to align it with the critical tasks assigned to it, especially in light of ongoing legislative projects and the government’s roadmap for employment.

The minister expressed his readiness to improve working conditions and provide suitable mechanisms for sector employees, maintaining an open dialogue with union demands, in line with available resources, with the aim of enhancing professional situations and achieving motivation and stability.

The meeting resulted in an agreement to establish a joint committee comprising representatives from the administration and the three most representative unions to draft the final version of the decree concerning the statute of the Labor Inspection Authority, ensuring it reflects the agreements reached during the three meetings. A deadline of four weeks has been set for a joint proposal between the ministry and social partners on this project.

Union representatives praised the participatory dialogue methodology adopted and the ministry’s serious commitment to fulfilling social obligations, emphasizing the importance of this process in institutionalizing sectoral dialogue and improving the conditions of employment sector employees.
