Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs Ahmed Toufiq held discussions today in Rabat with his Saudi counterpart, Sheikh Abdul Latif bin Abdulaziz Al Sheikh, focusing on ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in serving Islam and Muslims.
The talks centered on mechanisms to combat hate speech, extremism, and radicalism, and to promote values of moderation, tolerance, and understanding, aligning with the current challenges facing the Islamic world. The Saudi minister emphasized the importance of the joint efforts made by the leaders of both nations, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and King Mohammed VI, in addressing issues pertinent to the Islamic community, highlighting that collaboration between their ministries has existed for many years.
Ahmed Toufiq asserted that the official visit by the Saudi minister, leading a delegation of scholars, aims to strengthen the cooperative and consultative relations between the two religious institutions, reflecting a mutual desire to coordinate field and advocacy work in harmony with the profound fraternal ties binding the two kingdoms.
The Moroccan minister noted that the meeting presented an opportunity to agree on adopting a renewed approach to Islamic advocacy that considers contemporary changes and the aspirations of Muslim communities for a religious discourse that reinforces the humane values of Islam and reflects the essence of the faith.
The discussions were attended by the Saudi ambassador to Rabat, Sami bin Abdullah Al-Saleh, along with a high-level delegation from the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs, further illustrating the significance of this meeting within the context of strong bilateral relations between Rabat and Riyadh.
