The General Authority for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has raised the lower part of the Kaaba’s covering by 3 meters as part of the preparations for welcoming pilgrims for the Hajj season.
Today, the Saudi News Agency “SPA” reported that the process involves dismantling the lower parts, separating the corners, raising the covering, and securing it at the height of 3 meters, followed by fixing the white cloth and reinstating the lanterns to their original positions.
This annual measure is aimed at preserving the integrity of the covering and protecting it from contact or damage, especially during the intense circumambulation and close proximity to the Kaaba during the Hajj season.
The raised section is covered with a two-meter-wide white cotton cloth from all sides. This practice, followed annually, reflects meticulous organization and comprehensive preparations for receiving the pilgrims.
