The Arab Civil Aviation Organization held its 72nd executive council meeting yesterday in Rabat, with participation from member states.
The executive council meeting offered an opportunity to discuss various issues aimed at enhancing Arab cooperation in civil aviation and developing coordination mechanisms among member states, in line with international developments.
At the start of the meeting, the chairman of the executive council, Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Duailej, stated, “Today, we celebrate a significant milestone with the expansion of the executive council from 9 to 11 members, representing an institutional development that reinforces the principle of inclusivity and opens broader horizons for diverse perspectives.”
He noted that the civil aviation sector is undergoing profound technological and environmental transformations, marked by the rapid adoption of airspace management technologies, global digital transformation, and increasingly stringent environmental obligations imposed on the sector.
For his part, the Director General of the Arab Civil Aviation Organization, Abdelnabi Manar, mentioned that the current session is assessing the implementation of the organization’s 2025 action plan.
He emphasized the strategic importance of this meeting, which takes place just months before the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) General Assembly scheduled for the end of September in Montreal, asserting the necessity of establishing effective prior coordination between the Arab group and other regional aggregates.
The agenda for this meeting also includes the adoption of the final report for the 2024 fiscal year, the examination of the role of Arab countries in international civil aviation, and ways to enhance the Arab presence in international forums and organizations, in addition to supporting the Palestinian Airlines to maintain its operating license and ensure the continuity of its activities and international standing.
This meeting represents a genuine platform for dialogue and consultation among Arab states to confront the challenges and developments that the aviation sector is experiencing both regionally and internationally.
