Tamara: Reception held in honor of the blind pilgrims embarking on this season’s pilgrimage
The Alawite Organization for the Care of the Blind in Morocco organized a reception yesterday, Friday, in Tamara, honoring the delegation of blind pilgrims who have been granted a royal blessing to perform the pilgrimage this season.
This gesture reflects the high royal care that His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, extends to the blind community. It embodies the values of solidarity by ensuring the travel of blind pilgrims and providing them with the best conditions to perform their rituals smoothly and peacefully.
The event, held under the honorary presidency of Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Lamia Salhi, President of the organization, took place at the Blind Rehabilitation Center in Tamara. It was effectively overseen by Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Zaynab and attended by a number of personalities and civil society figures, along with the families of the benefiting pilgrims.
The delegation of blind pilgrims includes 24 men and women from various cities across the kingdom. The Alawite Organization for the Care of the Blind is responsible for their supervision, providing them with training courses on how to perform the pilgrimage, and they are expected to depart for their pilgrimage today, Saturday. The ceremony commenced with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by speeches expressing profound gratitude for the royal compassion and the pride of the organization in the continuous royal support for its loyal subjects with special needs.
In her speech, the Hajji official in the organization, Nuzha Awan, asserted that this event represents a strong message on humanitarian, social, and spiritual levels, indicating that it acknowledges the rights of blind individuals to fully enjoy their religious rights and enhances their active engagement in the spiritual life of the nation under a framework of dignity and equality.
For his part, the head of the blind pilgrims’ delegation, Azouz Boudouma, expressed his immense happiness in taking part in this season’s pilgrimage, noting that the arrangements for performing the rites were made smoothly. Similarly, several pilgrims expressed their emotions regarding this royal gesture, which will allow them to fulfill the pilgrimage comfortably and under favorable circumstances.
The reception was marked by a spiritual evening featuring praise of the Prophet and both individual and collective Quranic recitations.
