Mohammed Idelmghis, head of a department at the General Directorate of Internal Affairs in the Ministry of the Interior, confirmed that the criteria for selecting young individuals eligible for military service in 2025 are based on ensuring equality among citizens and maintaining balance between regions, as well as across provinces, districts, and local communities.
In an interview with the Maghreb Arab Press, Idelmghis stated that these criteria, set by the central committee for military service statistics, chaired by a judge and comprised of representatives from relevant government sectors, military and security services, and advisory human rights councils, are determined automatically and without human intervention using an automated mathematical equation.
He highlighted that during the committee meeting on April 17, lists of eligible young individuals were generated and forwarded to provincial authorities for the printing of notifications to inform these individuals to complete the military service registration form. He noted that local administrative authorities have already distributed these notifications to the concerned youth in all provinces and districts of the kingdom.
The official also referenced King Mohammed VI’s praise in his daily directive to the Royal Armed Forces on the occasion of their 69th anniversary on May 14, regarding achievements made in the military service program. The King described this initiative as a significant national pathway that enables Moroccan youth to fulfill their national duty, offering them the opportunity to engage in a disciplined institution that fosters values of perseverance, sacrifice, and belonging, while also providing professional training and specializations that open up job market opportunities to contribute to the development and revitalization of their country and community, instilling pride in their identity and loyalty to their King and national constants.
On another note, Idelmghis clarified that the age group undergoing military service includes youths aged 19 to 25, pointing out that individuals over 25 whose names are in the military service database, whether previously invited to complete the census form during the registration operations since 2019 or not, can also be called to fulfill this national duty.
The spokesperson added that youths who have previously registered and been called to service but benefited from a temporary exemption may also be summoned. Furthermore, young individuals who were not invited to complete the census form and meet the age requirement, who wish to volunteer for military service, can fill out the registration form during the designated census period (from April 25 to June 23, 2025) through the designated military service registration website (www.tajnid.ma).
He continued that the same opportunity is also available to young women who meet the age requirements and wish to volunteer for military service, as well as to young members of the Moroccan diaspora living abroad who are interested in this commitment, emphasizing the importance of accurately entering their registration numbers from the consular registry on the website during the form completion process.
