Rabat Prepares to Host Its First Rap Festival

- in Art

The festival aims to celebrate the creative and free Moroccan youth by highlighting the diversity and richness of local hip-hop culture in a festive atmosphere that combines music, live performances, and street arts.

Artistic performances will be spread over three musical evenings featuring artists such as “L Morphine,” “Mister You,” “Senor,” “Shobi,” and “Dada,” along with “El Jack,” who will be present throughout the festival, alongside promising young talents.

Each evening will begin and end with DJ performances, and after-parties will be held in venues like “Urban Bistro” and “Kron,” where intimate artistic performances and direct interactions between the audience and artists will take place.

The festival will be held at the “Al-Nahda / La Renaissance” hall, a symbolic cultural venue in Rabat that accommodates around 900 people, providing a vibrant communal experience for rap and urban culture enthusiasts.

The programming will also include exhibitions and parallel performances inspired by urban arts and contemporary youth cultures.

The 212’FlowFest festival comes amid a significant transformation in the Moroccan music scene, as rap has become the most listened-to genre among the youth. Reports from streaming platforms like “Spotify” indicated that four of the top ten most listened-to artists in the Arab world in 2021 were Moroccan, while rap maintained its prominent position in Morocco throughout 2024. The festival aims to solidify this strong presence of rap by supporting emerging artists and creating a new platform for expression and creativity.
