A report from RacingNews 365 reveals that the Kingdom of Morocco is preparing to officially join the African efforts to host a Formula 1 race.
The report indicates that this massive investment project, valued at $1.2 billion, awaits the green light from the relevant authorities and will be implemented approximately 20 kilometers south of the city of Tangier.
The source confirmed that the project will include a first-class track compliant with FIA standards for hosting Formula 1, WEC races, MotoGP, as well as an amusement park, a shopping center, hotels, and a tourism marina, creating around 10,000 direct job opportunities.
The same source added that $800 million in funding has been secured through private investors, with the remainder to be completed upon receiving official approval.
Project organizers believe that Tangier’s proximity to Europe, thanks to the Tangier-Med Port and its direct connection to the Spanish Port of Algeciras, presents a major attraction for Formula 1 teams, allowing them to transport their equipment easily and establish their logistical bases.
