Meeting of the National Rally of Independents in Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra: Commendation of Development and Diplomatic Successes and Commitment to Serving Citizens

In the second stop of the "Path of Achievements" caravan organized by the National Rally of Independents party, Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra witnessed a notable communication meeting on Saturday, attended by the party president, several ministers, elected officials, civil society representatives, and local residents. This significant political event is expected to have repercussions on the political landscape in the Moroccan southern regions.

Amid celebratory atmospheres reflecting deep party allegiance and renewed mobilization spirit, Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra warmly welcomed the party president and head of government, Aziz Akhannouch, along with his accompanying delegation during this new phase of his tour in the southern regions of the Kingdom. The National Rally of Independents party marked a significant political milestone coinciding with the launch of its national tour, “Path of Achievements,” from the Dakhla-Oued Ed Dahab region, aiming to assess the mid-term results nationally and locally while enhancing listening and dialogue with citizens.

Among thousands of supporters and activists from the "Dove" party, moderated by party leader Aziz Akhannouch, the party praised the achievements made in the territorial integrity file, which has garnered ongoing international recognition regarding Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara, thanks to effective and proactive royal diplomacy. This bodes well for the final resolution of this fabricated regional dispute.

During the gathering in Laayoune, the party highlighted the dynamics of this region through several key projects aimed at enhancing essential services for Moroccan citizens and upgrading infrastructure.

Mohamed Ayach, the regional coordinator of the National Rally of Independents in Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra, emphasized in his speech that this visit comes within a special context marking the tenth anniversary of the launch of the new development model for the southern regions, initiated by His Majesty King Mohammed VI may God support him in 2015, which has significantly contributed to qualitative leaps across various fields in this beloved territory.

The regional coordinator pointed out that the residents of Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra, with their diverse components, express their pride in their national belonging and their satisfaction with the progress witnessed in the area, thanks to major projects completed, including the dual carriageway linking Laayoune and Dakhla, which has a significant budget allocated of about 9 billion dirhams.

He also highlighted that the accomplishments in vital sectors such as fisheries, agriculture, and infrastructure are the result of comprehensive public policies that involve local authorities in development decision-making. He commended the diligent, on-the-ground work of the National Rally of Independents’ officials and representatives in these areas.

The speaker added that, despite economic and social challenges, the government continues its efforts to support employment and achieve spatial justice through effective social support programs, enabling youth with job opportunities, and improving conditions for professionals, especially in the fisheries and agricultural sectors.

He affirmed that the diplomatic victories achieved by Morocco, particularly the renewed recognition by the United States of Moroccan sovereignty over the Sahara, bolster the Kingdom’s position regionally and internationally while reflecting national consensus surrounding the Moroccan Sahara issue, which is manifested through developmental projects and public support for royal initiatives.

For his part, Karim Zidan, a member of the political bureau of the National Rally of Independents and Minister Delegate to the Head of Government responsible for Investment, Convergence, and Evaluation of Public Policies, during the meeting, expressed his deep sense of pride and honor to be among the party activists in this region, which is one of the most important in the Kingdom. He affirmed that this event marks a new step in a communicative journey that truly reflects the party’s commitment to listening to citizens’ demands and accompanying their aspirations.

The speaker praised the “organizational and political successes” achieved by the party, considering that the “Path of Achievements” caravan is not merely a communication campaign but a genuine representation of the spirit of commitment and responsibility, noting that the positive results achieved by the party during its governmental term are solid evidence of this.

He also confirmed that the government, under the leadership of Aziz Akhannouch, has successfully implemented an integrated social and economic governmental program that has brought about profound transformations, including:

  • Reforming the education, health, and justice sectors.
  • Increasing wages and improving the conditions of workers.
  • Expanding social protection and direct social support.
  • Initiating major projects such as green hydrogen in the south and encouraging productive investment, substantially contributing to reversing the unemployment curve.

He added that these achievements are the result of the harmonious work of a government team characterized by competence and reformist will, representing a model in fulfilling commitments, while commending the performance of ministers and elected representatives from the party.

He concluded his speech by emphasizing that a “successful team” is one that works for the citizen first, urging continued mobilization and engagement in the reform dynamics experienced by Morocco under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI may God support him.
