Hicham El Mehajri Returns to the Political Bureau of the Authenticity and Modernity Party Following a Year-Long Suspension

The Authenticity and Modernity Party announced during the thirtieth session of its national council the return of Hicham El Mehajri to its political bureau, nearly two years after his membership was suspended due to internal disputes.

This decision was communicated by Fatima Zahra Mansouri, the national coordinator of the collective leadership, who confirmed that El Mehajri has regained his position within the party’s leadership. Observers have described this move as a reflection of the desire to restore organizational unity and enhance the political presence of the party during the current phase.

In November 2022, the political bureau of the Authenticity and Modernity Party announced the suspension of parliamentary member Hicham El Mehajri following a parliamentary intervention that sparked widespread controversy within the governing majority. At the time, it was seen as a departure from the party’s directives and its commitments within the ruling coalition. The decision also included referring the matter to the ethics committee, with the party leadership emphasizing that adherence to the majority charter constitutes a constitutional, political, and ethical responsibility that cannot be compromised.

El Mehajri’s return comes amid efforts to reorder internal balances within the party, aimed at strengthening leadership unity and expanding the political participation of key actors within the organization. This step also reflects a new flexibility in managing internal disputes without compromising the party’s negotiating position within the majority.

The collective leadership of the Authenticity and Modernity Party hopes to leverage El Mehajri’s experience and parliamentary role to address the challenges ahead, particularly concerning organizational stability and the effectiveness of political performance within institutions.
