Thwarting an Attempt to Smuggle Over 100,000 Psychotropic Pills and Dismantling a Criminal Network in Casablanca

On Thursday, May 22, 2025, security forces in Casablanca thwarted an attempt to smuggle a massive shipment of psychotropic pills in a specialized operation carried out by the local judicial police in coordination with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance.

The operation resulted in the seizure of 104,000 pills of Rivotril and 3,790 pills of Ecstasy, along with the arrest of three individuals suspected of being linked to a criminal network involved in the possession and trafficking of drugs and psychotropic substances.

Investigations began on Wednesday evening after the arrest of an individual caught with 9,000 Rivotril pills. Further inquiries led to the detention of three additional suspects believed to be directly connected to the criminal activity.

Search operations enabled the recovery of the remaining shipments meant for distribution nationwide, revealing an extensive attempt to flood the local market with these substances.

The four suspects have been placed under judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, aimed at uncovering other potential accomplices and determining the extent of this network both locally and internationally.
