The “Curva Sud” groups supporting Raja Casablanca have described the current football season as “catastrophic,” calling for comprehensive changes. In a statement, they emphasized that the existing system has proven incapable of producing a leadership that aligns with the aspirations of fans and reflects the club’s prestigious history.
The groups criticized what they termed the prioritization of personal interests and ambitions within the club, arguing that membership in Raja has become, for some, a means of forming relationships and obtaining privileges, rather than advocating for a clear sports and structural project. They pointed out the absence of accountability mechanisms, especially regarding transfers and administrative appointments, which they likened to a lucrative trade that has harmed the team’s interests.
The groups called for a freeze on contract signings by the current president, warning against placing the club in arbitrary commitments that could complicate its situation further. They urged for an urgent extraordinary general assembly to facilitate widespread changes that would reorganize the internal structure and provide the team with a fresh start in preparation for the upcoming season.
Additionally, the groups raised concerns about external targeting of Raja’s resources, citing the repeated closure of Mohammed V Stadium without visible improvements to its infrastructure. They also noted what they deemed selective handling of the financial disputes faced by the team.
In closing their statement, the groups expressed their condolences on the passing of Mohamed Ghlam, a veteran manager of Raja, considering him a rare example of dedication and loyalty to the club, while also lamenting the absence of such figures among the club’s current members.
