Agreement Introduces Electronic Gaming Industry into University Campuses and Vocational Training

Express TV: Mostafa Filali

On Tuesday in Rabat, partnership agreements in the electronic gaming industry were signed between the Minister of Youth, Culture and Communication, Mr. Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, the Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation, Mr. Azeddine El Mehdawi, and the Director General of the Office of Vocational Training and Employment Promotion, Ms. Lubna Atrisha.

This initiative aligns with efforts by the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication to develop this promising field. The first agreement, signed between Mr. Bensaid and Mr. El Mehdawi, aims to launch training programs at public Moroccan universities in electronic gaming. These programs will cover technical university diploma tracks at a Bac +2 level, as well as Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, along with the establishment of Game Labs for electronic gaming within public university spaces.

Additionally, a second agreement was signed between Mr. Bensaid and Ms. Lubna Atrisha to develop training programs within vocational training institutions. Three qualification programs will be launched, covering careers such as e-sport caster, e-sport streamer, and a video game lab. The goal is to align these new careers with academic and vocational training to meet labor market demands in the electronic gaming industry, which offers over 150 professions. The electronic gaming market has a global turnover of $300 billion. The Moroccan government, through the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication, is focused on attracting foreign investors while encouraging the creation of national startups and promoting Moroccan talent in this sector.

It is noteworthy that the new training programs will commence in September 2025 at universities in the Rabat-Salé-Kénitra region as a pilot initiative, with a nationwide rollout planned for the 2026-2027 academic year.
