Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares praised the “excellent” dynamism of the current bilateral relations between Morocco and Spain on Monday.
In a speech before the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives, the head of Spanish diplomacy expressed gratitude to Morocco for its support during last week’s power outage in Spain, which allowed for a swift restoration of electricity in several regions of the country.
Albares highlighted the significant progress achieved in Moroccan-Spanish relations during the new phase initiated following the message sent by Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, in which he reaffirmed that “the Moroccan autonomy initiative is the most serious, realistic, and credible basis for resolving the dispute” concerning Western Sahara.
In another context, the Spanish Foreign Minister noted the “historic record” of 23 billion euros in trade exchanges between the two countries, a figure bolstered by the roadmap agreed upon on April 7, 2022.
