Kerkara: Attempt to Smuggle Two Tons of Hashish into Africa Foiled
On Friday, May 2, security and customs officials at the Kerkara border post, south of Dakhla, thwarted an attempt to smuggle two tons of hashish intended for a sub-Saharan African country.
The joint security operation, which involved trained dogs, resulted in the seizure of the narcotic cargo concealed within a load of construction materials on two trucks displaying Moroccan license plates.
The drivers of the two trucks, aged 40 and 47, were arrested and placed under preliminary investigation under the supervision of the relevant public prosecutor.
Investigations are ongoing to identify other involved parties and trace the network’s extensions, both within Morocco and at regional and international levels.
This operation is part of the continuous efforts made by security services at the Kerkara border post to combat international drug trafficking and transnational organized crime.
