The Chairwoman of the Audiovisual Media Authority of Albania, Armila Krasniqi, conducted a working visit on Wednesday to the headquarters of the High Authority for Audiovisual Communication in Rabat, at the invitation of the Authority’s Chairwoman, Latifa Akharbach.

A statement from the High Authority for Audiovisual Communication indicated that this first bilateral meeting between the Albanian and Moroccan audiovisual media authorities is part of efforts to diversify exchanges and interactions with counterpart institutions to enhance legal, procedural, and technical frameworks aimed at providing high-quality audiovisual content while respecting users’ rights.

This meeting also responds to a mutual desire for cooperation between the two authorities following several prior meetings and exchanges, notably within the network of regulatory bodies to which they both belong, such as the Francophone Network of Media Regulators and the Mediterranean Regulatory Bodies Network.

The statement highlighted that the visit by the Albanian media regulatory authority, accompanied by Secretary-General Romilda Rabolari, included presentations by both sides on the mandates, organization, and operational methods of their respective authorities.

The discussions, which were also attended by the Director General of the High Authority, Beniuse Asloun, and several other directors from the Authority, focused on common challenges regarding the alignment of regulation with the digital transformation of media and the profound changes in media systems.

In this context, Krasniqi presented the developments in the legal framework for media regulation in Albania, particularly in light of her country’s candidacy for European Union membership and the ongoing gradual alignment with European standards in this area.
