Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch has pledged unprecedented health and educational reforms in the Guelmim-Oued Noun region. He announced that the local medical school will start graduating doctors from 2029, with an annual output of 100 doctors, totaling 500 over five years and 1,000 in a decade—benefiting all four provinces of the region.
Akhannouch made these remarks during his participation in the third phase of the “Path of Achievements” communication tour in Guelmim on Saturday afternoon, highlighting the new dynamism in various sectors, attributed to what he termed the “royal attention” of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
Regarding the education sector, the Prime Minister revealed that Guelmim-Oued Noun will be the first region in the country to implement “Leadership Schools,” starting from the 2025-2026 school year, before extending them to other regions in the following year, 2026-2027.
He indicated that the region currently has 80 primary schools under this initiative, along with 10 new intermediate schools that will be launched soon as part of the “Leadership” model expansion.
Akhannouch noted that the state has undertaken what he described as a “revolutionary reform” in the education sector, asserting that major international organizations have praised this experience, though he did not specify the names of these organizations or the nature of their reports.
