Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch officially launched a new roadmap for foreign trade during a ceremony in Casablanca on Wednesday, aimed at enhancing Morocco’s position in the international market and increasing the contribution of foreign trade to economic and social development for the period 2025-2027.

This roadmap is based on three main priorities: the creation of 76,000 new jobs, expanding the base of exporters by establishing 400 new exporting companies each year, and achieving an additional export value of 84 billion dirhams during the implementation period.

The Prime Minister emphasized that this initiative is part of a coherent vision aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of the national economy and opening up to international markets. He highlighted that His Majesty King Mohammed VI gives special attention to this vital sector because of its role in wealth creation and achieving sustainable development.

Akhannouch explained that Morocco has chosen an economic openness approach as a strategic option in line with royal directives. He underscored that integration into international trade chains represents a central lever for growth and a clear indicator of the national economy’s resilience and development.

He noted that the roadmap was prepared through a participatory and integrated approach, which includes four main levers and six intersecting reforms, including strengthening exports in promising sectors like handicrafts and the social economy, and establishing regional offices to support exporters at the regional level.

Akhannouch affirmed that the government relies on this program to achieve tangible results in employment, considering that job creation remains at the heart of government priorities. He added that improving the ratio of exports to imports is one of the major economic objectives for the coming years.

He stressed that Morocco has significant export potential that must be optimally utilized, reiterating the government’s commitment to implementing various reforms related to strengthening competitive capacities and expanding Morocco’s presence in global markets.

The event was attended by several government officials and private sector representatives, including the President of the House of Councillors, Mohamed Wahl El Rashid, Minister of Industry and Trade, Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Economic Inclusion, Younes Sekouri, Minister Delegate in Charge of Budget, Fouzi Lekjaa, Secretary of State for Foreign Trade, Omar Hajira, along with the President of the Moroccan Confederation of Exporters, Hassan Sentissi, and the President of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises, Shakib Alaj.
